Balise
Your collection already exists.
You already take the pictures. Balise makes sense of them.
Keep Camera, the normal one. Balise learns the roll you already have and turns the bottles, the wrist checks, the outfits and the “wait, what was that” into a collection you can ask. Not a wine app, a watch app and a closet app. One place, after the fact.
What comes back
Which watches you actually wear. What you drank in Shibuya, at that little whisky bar. The name of the place with the terrace. Balise files what it notices — the bottle and its vintage, the restaurant, the city, the date — and every answer comes back with the pictures it stands on, not a grid of guesses. When it gets something wrong, you fix it in one tap.
Then, while you sleep, it starts remembering at the grain a camera roll never had: the night. Trips and the places you lived are laid out from dates and places; a quiet nightly pass works out the dinners and evenings inside them. Nine photos of one dinner become one dinner. The diary you were already keeping, open at last.
Your page
When a night is worth showing, it leaves the app as one link. Balise writes the story — title, chapters, the pictures placed — you fix a line and publish. A single bottle travels as a card, a trip as a swipeable deck, a shortlist as a page of words. Everything you publish lives on your own page at usebalise.com/@you, in the style you pick, under the tabs you name.
Nothing is published until you publish it. Your page can be public, open only to whoever holds the link, or private to the followers you let in. People follow you by email on the web or in the app, and hear about what you publish next.
What stays yours
Your originals stay in Apple Photos; Balise is not a backup. The phone encrypts a small processing copy of each photo before it leaves, and ordinary copies are deleted once what they show has been kept. Your pictures train nothing, ours or anyone else’s.
No cloud face yearbook: grouping stays on your phone and “me” needs your say-so. Preference is never guessed from a picture alone — what you own, drank or loved is what you said, kept apart from what was merely in frame. Connected to Claude or ChatGPT, Balise answers with facts, and shows a photo only when you approve that exact request.
Why “Balise”
Balise is French for a marker: the painted bars on a trail, or the buoy over a channel, that help you find the place again. You already leave those markers with pictures. Balise keeps what they meant.
