Balise

Terms · in plain words

The deal, in eight tiles

What you get, what we ask, and how to walk away. The long version below is the contract itself. When they differ, the long version wins — but we wrote both to say the same thing.

  • What you get

An app that reads the photos you already take and keeps what they meant — as text you can search and ask. Apple keeps the pictures. Balise keeps the marks.

  • Early access. Things break.

Early access is unfinished. Features move, break, or vanish between builds. We give it as it is, and we don’t promise it finds everything. Tell us when it breaks.

  • Your photos, your rights

Only point Balise at photos you have the right to use. People in your pictures are your responsibility, not ours. Your family in your family album is exactly what this is for.

  • Be 16 or older

You need to be 16 to have an account, or older if your country says so. Not built for kids. Kids in your photos are fine — see the tile above.

  • We don’t sell your data

No ads, no brokers, no training anyone’s AI on your pictures. What Balise learns is yours; we only host it to make the app work for you.

  • We can pause or stop the beta

We may change, pause or end the beta, or close accounts that abuse it. We’ll say so ahead of time when we can. Nothing in the beta is a promise of what ships.

  • French law, your rights intact

The contract is under French law, courts of Paris. If you’re a consumer, the protections where you live still apply. Nothing here takes away rights the law says you keep.

  • How to leave

Delete the app. In the app, Profile → Delete all Balise data wipes what we learned. To close the sign-in account itself, email us. Your Apple Photos never changed.

Now the long version, or jump to contact. Privacy is its own page: what we do with your photos.
